Easter Egg Enrichment

We LOVE including our dogs in holiday events. Typically we have two egg hunts each year, one with Hallie and the dogs and one with the extended family. The Easter bunny always brings them a basket with special goodies along with Hallie's as well.

It was simple to find some cheap plastic eggs. We stuffed them with Vital Essentials Freeze Dried Dog Treats and Dr. Marty Nature's Blend. We tried a simple version first which is just scattering the eggs in the sunroom, but they were not very engaged with it. We took it outside and made it a little harder.

Outside, we hid the eggs. We cued it as a game "Find It" and opened the eggs for them as they came across them. Cuing the "Find It" prevented them from just biting straight in to the egg and breaking the plastic. After the first finds they were off. Even Poppy came across one. If you are worrying about small parts being chewed you can do the same concept with Kong toys and smearing small bits of cream cheese or peanut butter inside and hiding.

Easter Bunny likes to leave a few treats behind for the dogs as well. A few simple things they have received over the years are as follows:

Nylabones - Great for powerful chewers

Kongs- Good for just about any life stage or breed

Licki Bowls/Mats- Great for reducing stress or pairing with situations like grooming

Interactive Feed Toys- Great way to mentally stimulate

As a force free dog trainer, I am constantly asked, "well...what do YOU use for your dogs?" These are the exact products I use to keep the seniors in my pack as healthy and comfortable as possible. Full disclosure- as an Amazon Associate, I earn from qualifying purchases.
